It is with deepest regret that we have to announce that Chairman Dave
Wilson has lost his battle against cancer and passed away on Saturday
October 18th 2008.

There was a private family only funeral service held on Friday October 24th
2008.

'A wonderful servant to sport' loses battle with cancer

TRIBUTES PAID: David Wilson, the former chairman of Preston Cricket Club
who lost his cancer battle

Tributes have been paid to a leading Preston amateur sports boss who has lost his battle
with cancer.
David Wilson, 68, from Penwortham, who was chairman of both Preston Cricket Club and
Broughton Amateurs Football Club, died on Saturday after a long battle with cancer. He
had also served as vice-president of Cumberland Cricket Club.

David, a father-of-two and grandad-of-three, was also vice-president at Lancashire
Football Association and friends have spoken of their shock at losing a "sincere friend".

John Richardson, secretary of Preston Cricket Club, said: "He will be very difficult to
replace. He was sincere, friendly and very dedicated to sport and his family. He will
leave a happy legacy and a big void."

Michael Dolphin, president of Broughton Amateurs Football Club, said: "He was a
wonderful servant to local sport as chairman of Broughton since 1973 and a wonderful
servant to Preston Cricket Club."

David Burgess, chief executive of Lancashire Football Association, said: "He touched many
lives in the sporting community."
